Most visitors to the city of Irkutsk begin their acquaintance with Lake Baikal in Listvyanka. This most popular holiday destination on Lake Baikal is 70 km from Irkutsk.

On the way at your request, you can make a stop at the museum of architectural and wooden architecture Taltsy. The museum is located in a picturesque place on the bank of the Angara River and represents a unique collection of monuments of architecture, ethnography and history of 17 – 20 centuries. In the museum you can get acquainted with the way of life of the indigenous peoples of the Baikal region: Russians, Buryats, Evenks and Tofalars.

After examining the exposition and walking through the museum, continue the way to the village of Listvyanka. Our first stop in the village. Listvyanka we will do on the observation deck in front of the famous Shaman stone. The guide will tell us the legend of Baikal and his daughter Angara.

Our tour will continue with a walk through the village, where we will visit the church of St. Nicholas. Guide will tell us a beautiful legend about the construction of the church, we will see the wooden houses of local residents, enjoy the beautiful slope of the mountains in the village. Then we will climb along the pedestrian or cable-chair road to the Chersky mountain, from where you can see a magnificent view of the peaks of the Khamar-Daban ridge, the village of Port Baikal, Shaman stone, the source of the Angara River, the Baikal Astrophysical Observatory and the boundless Siberian taiga.

Enjoying the most beautiful views of the lake, we will go to a local restaurant for lunch, try some dishes from the Baikal fish and rest a little.

During the excursion to Listvyanka you can also visit the famous Baikal museum, which will acquaint you with the history of the study of Lake Baikal, its animals and flora. In the museum there are stuffed birds and animals, samples of bottom sediments and Baikal minerals, various exhibits found during scientific expeditions. During the excursion you can make a virtual dive to the bottom of Baikal in a specially equipped bathyscaphe and see unique underwater shooting at the maximum depth of Baikal – 1637 m. In the aquariums of the museum there live different kinds of Baikal organisms, including. seal and omul.

After the tour you can stay in one of the Listvyanka hotels or return to Irkutsk.
