The monument to Emperor Alexander III was laid on June 22, 1903, in honor of the completion of the Trans-Siberian Railway. It was erected in the middle of the Siberian section of the railway, on the bank of the Angara River, in the city of Irkutsk, opposite Bolshaya Street (now K. Marx Street).
In 1920, it was demolished on the basis of the decree "On the monuments of the republic". Until 2003, a spire was installed in the place of the emperor.
Today, the monument to Alexander III is a cultural heritage site.
The object is located in one of the most beautiful places in Irkutsk - the embankment of the Angara River. This is a really interesting place, a lot of greenery, pedestrian paths and small cafes.
An excellent solution for a walk along the most beautiful streets of Irkutsk, fresh air and the surroundings convey the real mood of the city.
